J.S. Moffatt & Co. was a general merchandise store, with dealings also in tobacco, wheat and cotton. During the period of 6 years (1861-67) there are no records due to the fact that Mr. Moffatt was aiding the Confederate cause by supplying troops from Troy with guns, clothes and food.
